David's latest commission, a Missa Brevis for the choir of St Mary Magdalen, Oxford, will be premiered this Sunday morning at the 10.30am High Mass.
Combining a lyrical melodies, shifting modal harmonies and musical cryptograms, the Mass has been written for 8-voice choir with soloists and organ. Furthermore, the Mass has been composed so that it can be performed both with and without the organ part, depending on the circumstances of the performance.
David has been associated with the church and choir of St Mary Magdalen since he was first appointed organist of the church in October 2010, and is delighted to be premiering the piece from the organ with Will Dawes conducting.
